The writing support desk will be closed on monday, februrary 15th in honour of family day. English is a vibrant and warm home to undergraduate and graduate degree programs in literature, creative writing, and the english language. Students can choose from nine undergraduate programs that offer foundation building approaches to literary traditions in the english language ndash covering the medieval and renaissance, through the enlightenment, romantic, victorian, to the modern, postmodern, and contemporary periods. Two distinguished graduate programs in literature and creative writing present faculty expertise and the latest research in both ground breaking and shaping ways and areas of literary study. Creative writing degree programs at the university of windsor combine critical and literary coursework: students graduate with fully functional bas and mas not with bfas and mfas. Our workshops in creative writing are intimate settings in informal seminar format.

Students learn from and discover each other 39 s writing, are encouraged to open their minds to ways of writing likely never encountered before, test their communicating skills at offering constructive critiques, and are mentored by creative writing faculty who are writers and actively engaged with the best in their fields. The creative writing programs at the university of windsor are among the oldest and most innovative in canada. Along with our department rsquo s complement of hands on practicum courses in professional editing, publishing, web based writing and editing, scholarship, and writing about the arts, our combined programs give students a range of career path options, including, although not limited to continued graduate studies to the phd level. Student literary life at the university is a rich curricular and extra curricular mix that includes visiting speakers, writers, intellectuals and a growing number of publications. Our services have not changed, but we are now working more closely with other areas to provide students more comprehensive services. The center for academic writing is one of the leading writing centers in europe, awarded the writing program of excellence certificate by the conference on college composition and communication in 2004. The center offers writing support for all members of ceu but especially for students, right through to the final thesis.

Meaning of Ethics Essays

Our goal is to help students to become proficient, independent writers who can function effectively in the wider academic and policy community after graduation. We are more concerned with producing better academic writers than with producing better academic texts. The center provides courses in academic writing that aim to help students develop and present their ideas effectively according to the needs of their discipline.

We also focus on the necessary research skills for term papers and thesis writing. The center also offers individual consultations on any aspect of writing students wish to improve. Teaching and individual consultations are closely interlinked to give students effective training and support in writing for graduate study. The center for academic writing at ceu is a member of the fiesole group, a network of applied linguists, educationalists and language professionals from a number of european higher education institutions committed to the dissemination of best practices in academic communication, with particular reference to the needs of researchers and junior faculty in today's multilingual europe.
