Enter the kids are authors annual competition now in its final year to encourage students to use their reading, writing, and artistic skills. Under the guidance of a project coordinator, children work in teams to write and illustrate their own book. The contest is open to students in grades k–8 in the united states, including its territories and possessions. Two grand prize winning books will be selected in each of these categories: fiction and nonfiction.

The winning books will be published by scholastic and sold at book fairs throughout the country! the deadline for our final contest is march 15, 2016. at iuniverse, we take pride in editorial excellence, which is exemplified by our editor’s choice, rising star and star recognition programs. We also encourage authors to participate in writing contests at the regional and national levels. Authors have the opportunity to earn recognition, awards and prizes through writing contests. Below is a list of reputable contests from around the country, organized by submission deadline.

Deadlines, prizes and entry fees are subject to change. prizes:  recognition on indieexcellence.com, inclusion in a news release and the right to highlight the award on your book and marketing materials. Please write a free verse poem with no structured rhyme scheme, though random rhymes are permitted. Try to include poetic devices, like metaphors, alliteration and vivid imagery to differentiate the write from prose, though these inclusions are not write a whitney poem about something in physical nature that is positive, beautiful, and/or shows appreciation of nature. Found poetry topic: good clean fun! any products found in bathroom or kitchen may be used.

Any poetry type! please write a poem rhymed or un rhymed with the theme of an animal/group of animals just one species, and not humans , that is/are abused/hunted/suffering/facing extinction. You must state in your author notes the line, part line or sentence you have chosen from the lyrics. Anything goes, but the end of the world, or its perception, must be a driving force in your story. Word count must appear in the 39 description 39 above the title, but nothing else there. Winning and placing in a chanticleer writing contest will help promote your work and your author platform.

Gives you something to post about, something to encourage interactions from followers as they congratulate you and re share your accomplishments. And reviews to add to your book cover design, to help your book stand out when readers are making that all important purchasing decision. Show potential readers, agents, publishers that your book has passed a test of quality and readability that can help your book jump off the shelves at book stores and increase book sales, or open doors to agents and publishers. Contest submission deadlines help you meet your deadlines for your publishing goals. Finalists and winners get active promotion from chanticleer across our social media platforms and our high traffic website, as well as our mail list of thousands.
