When children get the chance to perform on different assessments, they can adequately show their strengths and weaknesses. Some types of assessment that i think should be inlcuded in a classroom are journals, presentations, projects and interviews. By distributing jobs among the children and everyone participating in the classroom, the students will form a sense of togetherness. I feel that this community of learners is essential for the students to perform effectively and efficiently. They will feel comfortable in the environment and will not be afraid to take risks or ask questions. The teacher will also be a member of this community and will not be seen as unapproachable or as the only leader.

The teacher should also not be seen as the facilitator of all information in the classroom. The students should be looking to other sources for information, including each other, books, and technology. The students will be able to state their opinion and also listen to the other students' views.

While teaching a certain subject, if the students wish to learn about something else or move into a different idea, i want to be able to do that. I do not want to say that we aren't going to have enough time to cover something. I think that manipulatives and interactive tools will allow the students to learn easier and more effectively. In order to work most effectively in the school i will be working at, i plan on becoming friends or aquaintances with the teachers, administrators and parents of the children in my classroom.

Student input is magical however, it is also important to realize there must be management as well. I want my students to feel welcome and that there are not bad questions, but they also need to understand my authority and allow me to direct them.

Reality my philosophy also relates to the thoughts advocated by john dewey 1859 1952. As i develop professionally and gain more experience as an educator, i must constantly revise my philosophy to reflect my new educational goals, ideals, and insights.

Students have the right to be treated with respect and dignity for their ideas, skills, and stages of development. I strongly believe that academics in any school should be accessible to all students. There should be no discrimination based on level of ability, because all students can be challenged at their own individual level and achieve success. I want to teach my students in a way that will be interesting, understandable, and within reach of all children and their varying learning styles. Students will take an active role in their learning by developing cultural and social relationships, identifying civic responsibility, participating in group activities, and learning to challenge their previous ideas, rather than accepting what is said to be true.
