We contribute to numerous externally funded international research projects, in collaboration with scholars across europe. Our professional activities also include: editorial membership, policy reports and consultancy work for major public sector organisations.

While the areas of expertise within the group are manifold, there are several key areas of research that link different members of the group: the analysis of social norms. The following are examples of recent and forthcoming publications: in the journal of public economics 2013 michael finus and pedro pintassilgo analyse the impact of uncertainty on the success of climate agreements. They show that previous negative conclusions about the role of learning do not hold generally and can be mitigated if they occur. In the journal of law, economics and organization 2013 , dinand webbink, pierre koning, suncica vujić and nick martin analyse the relationship between education and crime, taking into account early arrests before the age of 18. In the journal of public economic theory 2013 ajit mishra and indranil dutta argue that greater inequality leads to higher levels of corruption in economies characterized by market imperfections.

In oxford economic papers 2013 ramses abul naga and philip jones explore the welfare effects of international subsidies designed to encourage recipients to contribute to the provision of global public goods. They show that subsidies can be designed to maximise the welfare of donor countries. In the energy journal forthcoming christian gross, stephan bruns and david stern carry out a meta analysis of the large literature on testing for granger causality between energy use and economic output to determine if there is a genuine effect in this literature. We also engage in several other research related activities, such as editorial board membership and consultancy. Current examples include: alistair hunt and michael finus have both contributed to assessment reports of the intergovernmental panel on climate change ipcc . Michael finus is co editor of environmental and resource economics and has edited several special issues for environmental and resource economics and the journal of environmental economics and management.

Christian almer and michael finus are members of the programme committee of the 5th world congress of environmental and resource economists. Ajit mishra has edited special issues on corruption for indian growth and development and the journal of interdisciplinary economics. He has also contributed to the human development report undp as an author of a technical background paper.

Philip jones has contributed to an influential report on 'extending working life: behaviour change interventions rsquo published by the department of work and pensions. Christian almer has co authored two chapters of a recent report on the impacts of climate change in switzerland published by a consortium of swiss governmental and higher education institutions.
