In response to the question, who is my neighbor? jesus told us the parable we call the good samaritan, as follows: a man was going down from jerusalem to jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a priest was going down that road and when he saw him he passed by on the other side.

But a samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was and when he saw him, he had compassion, and went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine then he set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And the next day, he took out two denaii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, take care of him and whatever more you spend, i will repay you when i come back. Jesus told us that the second most important commandment, behind loving god, is loving our neighbor. Doing things like outreach can be scary, but going to urban eagles changed all of that for me. One day, i was talking to steve about soccer, and he mentioned that he did an outreach program called urban eagles, and he would love for me to come out. At first i was nervous because i had never come into contact with people from other cultures. At first, it was hard, but as i kept going i started to form relationships with some of the kids.

Once i got comfortable, i started talking to some of my friends about coming out to urban eagles, too. They had the same reaction as me they didn’t want to come out at first, but as they got to know the kids, they realized that those kids were not so different from us. Now, as i said earlier, going into different communities can be scary at first, but once you try it for the first time it becomes a lot easier. Before urban eagles, i had never done any outreach or mission trips, but now i am going on a mission trip to nicaragua. Urban eagles really got the ball rolling for me, and i think that if anyone starts doing outreach, then they will be hooked they will not be able to do enough. Urban eagles was key in starting my development in outreach and getting out into the community.

I hope that all the other christians around the world can come to realize that they need to get out into their communities.
