Nearly all elementry schools, high schools, and colleges in the united states have organized basketball teams. In december, 1891, naismith x27 s physical education class played the first basketball game. Word of the new game spread quickly, and basketball was soon being played by ymca groups, high schools, colleges and semiprofessional and professional teams throughout the united states and canada. High school baseballin high school, the most enjoyable part of one s friday nights will somehow include football games and basketball games. Football and basketball are almost always recognized as the most important sports to a school.

When playing basketball, if a player hits another player in any way, or fouls, then the person he/she fouls will get to make free throws. As i walked into the gymnasium of westchester high school, i saw a display with many championship trophies in it that were awarded to the schools basketball program. To further note their superiority in athletics, westchester high also had banners hanging from their ceiling for every championship they had won. Coming from a school that had not won a title in over 30 years made me want to hold a trophy that had locke high schoolae 157 printed on it with the words c.i.f. However, i wasn t there to just look at their banners and give them their props for winning those championship.

The three point shot, in recent years the three point shot has had perhaps the biggest impact on basketball offense at every level from high school to the pros. Basketball can be a very fun and exciting game to play with friends or on a nba team, as long as u plays buy the rules and play fair. Continuing to stare at my watch minute after minute, i quickly was overcome by a reminiscence of a basketball game. I step out onto the court to play the most significant game ever played in my life.i have been playing basketball ever since i was seven years old but this is the first time that my team has made it to the finals.

While putting on my uniform, i reminded myself that this is the last organized basketball game that i will ever play. Next year, basketball will have to take a backseat because i will be occupied with work and getting use to the transition from high school t. My passion for the game began during my last year of middle school, but despite trying out for the middle school team i was not chosen to be a part of it. Although this was of great disappointment to me, it did not deter me from my love of the game. It made me more driven and determined to work hard during the summer prior to entering high school to ensure that i was in a position to try out for the high school freshman team. I practiced morning, noon and night in 90 degree heat, perfecting my shot and working out to improve my skills.

This hard work paid off, when i was chosen to be a part of the freshman team and i have continued to work hard during my high school years to be an asset to the varsity team. I feel sure that this experience of being a part of the high school basketball team has helped me become successful in my academic life. Being part of a team has instilled in me the responsibilities and work ethic that carries over into other aspects of my life and i feel sure that this will be extremely valuable in my future endeavors at the university. And really more precisely on hard work, there is a saying that hard work beats talent, when talent fails to work hard. I believe this because to me it means that no matter how good you are if you don’t.

From the early days of football starting in the 1920 x27 s to the present day, football athletes have started their careers on high school fields. One of the biggest impacts on me was the change from carlisle high school football to mansfield university football. I noticed yet again, mansfield football was very different from carlisle high school.

Playing carlisle high school football for the most part you have to play defense and offense making it difficult to get better at any one position. Ever since the day my dad put that round leather sphere into my hands i havent been able to get enough of it. To me basketball isnt just a sport, but an outlet from schoolwork, a basis of enjoyment, a place where i can socialize and obviously a source of exercise. Anytime i start to feel the stress of school and work, i always basketball as my way of winding down. The moment i step out onto the concrete paved court in my front yard i feel released.

Whether it is the swish sound of nothing but net or the rhythmic bounce of the ball when im dribbling. Whatever it is, for those 10 or so minutes im out there, i feel completely refreshed, and feel that i can take anything on. Representative is a great deal more competitive and serious than domestic, however i find playing representative much more enjoyable. I guess its the fact that im playing with girls of the same age as myself, that have the same interests as i do, and are all as serious about basketball as i am. Its also nice to have that separate group of friends away from the group of friends at school. I sometimes find it easier to talk to my friends at basketball than those from school, i presume its because we all spend some much time together, with us training three days and playing twice a week.

Playing in vc which is the highest level you can get to in victoria you have to be in pretty good shape. To be perfectly honest, i dont mind this sort of torture because i know that its keeping me from becoming chubby. Although at times i question myself on why i continue to literally run myself into the ground. On thursdays and tuesdays our trainings usually consist of skill drills and running through strategic plays for our games on friday nights. The best part of my week is on a friday afternoon when the final bell of the day rings at five past three, i become anxious and excited about the game i will be preparing myself for, for the rest of the afternoon. But the most enjoyable part of playing basketball would have to be the finals you get to play in at the end of the season. Grand final day is so much fun! everyone is so pumped to be there, being able to play in the grand final and knowing that if you win or lose you get a trophy, having your parents and friends cheering for you on the bench.
