It isnt that the parents arent doing a good job, its that sometimes a parent needs to create space to do their primary job, being a parent.

Many parents of autistic children have found out the hard way that homework time can also be nightmare time for both the child and parent. It breaks my heart when i hear the familiar strain in the parent’s voice, my child needs help with homework and i cant help anymore, what should i do? here are my 5 tips to happier homework time for helping students with autism overcome the challenges of homework. It can really help to clearly break the assignment down into chunks, instead of overwhelming the student with an entire project. This will help homework time be more focused and flow better, one step at a time. For example, if there is a project due at the end of the week, it is important to break it up into smaller actions, and then schedule when those actions are to be completed by.

If he didn 39 t complete homework the night before, wake him up early to do it before school. Some kids do better in the morning, because the are too over stimulated from the long day, at night. It 39 s like she 39 s a teenager but i 39 m still taking care of a kindergartner.very frustrating! tough to put up with every day wondering will it ever change.she does ok once then it goes away.makes me want to throw my arms up and give up,then i realize its not her fault. What i do with my son is i give him a break for a while and then tries to deal with his homework but we make it fun. Think homework is quite overrated look up some studies on the subject, it really does not assist in learning beyond the classroom all that much , i think we are in such a habit of giving kids homework, we are not even sure if it is helpful. Managable is different for each child asking the teacher for the priority homework what must be done, and what is less of a priority , and/or asking to substitute alternatives i.e. If your child has trouble writing but needs to learn multiplication facts, ask if it is permissible to substitute worksheets of facts with flash cards or verbal answers as a substitute.
