First time: 2014h course contents: master students in international environment studies are required to write a master thesis/dissertation on a topic within the field of international environment studies approved by the student¿s supervisor. The student can choose amongst a broad spectrum of natural and social scientific methods and theories that are part of the master study programme. Independent gathering and analysis of sources primary and/or secondary are key elements of the dissertation. If the student is conducting fieldwork, it is required that the supervisor approves the research proposal prior to travel to the field.the approximate length of the master thesis should be a minimum of 160 words and a maximum of 280 words. This option is only feasible for students who perform particularly well in their coursework average grade b or better. The length of the work distinguishes it from a 30 credit thesis: a 60 credit thesis can be up to 350 words and the writing process of the 60 credit thesis extends over two semesters. The thesis should reflect a mastering of the status of research in a particular field.

Each student is entitled to 60 hours o f supervision for a 60 credit master thesis. When completed, it provides the student with in depth knowledge of a specific topic and relevant methods and theories. The student will have gained experience in planning and implementing a project over a period of more than six months. Throughout this process, the student will have gained specific knowledge, skills and competence: the student will have experience in searching for various sources, reading and assessing them in the relation to a specified issue within international environment studies. The student will have presented the research topic, including methodology, data collection, analysis and any challenges encountered, to peers in noragric's thesis seminars.

Through supervision, the student will have gained insight into the various steps of a research process, including methodical and ethical concerns.  if the student has conducted fieldwork and gathered primary data, practical experience will have been gained in assessing sources and collecting data in the field, in addition to the explanation of research results. The goal of this course is to guide the student towards masterthesis, which is timely, and of good quality. At the start of the academic year a first general lecture is given in which a masterthesis brochure is elaborately discussed.

In this brochure you can find a detailed description of the sub assignmets and their timing, as well as the general expectations on form and content of the masterthesis itself. The student is expected to find as soon as possible by him or herself a promotor, and determinate in agreement with this promotor the topic of the masterthesis. To help you in this process, a list of suitable promotors and their topics is made available at pointcarré. De sub assignments and the discussion of them entail formulating and contextualising the research question, literature research progress, methodological research plan, research activities and findings, reporting and editing.  at least 5 contact moments with the promotor spread over the academic year take place, according to the general timing as described in the brochure.

The promotor gives feedback and scores the assignment, and communicates these scores to the masterthesis coordinator. In addition classes and workshops are planned by different lecturers during the total period of the accademic year. Programme objectives this course contributes to the following general learning results of the master in communication sciences: students show an open and constructive attitude whilst having respect for other views and beliefs, students are open to scientific doubt and societal pluralism. They demonstrate courage, ambition and perseverance in questioning both established insights and alternative points of view, students demonstrate the skill to discuss and debate current societal and scientific topics and theoretical developments within the field of communication studies.

The students discuss issues on the basis of critical and substantiated reflections and research findings, open mindedly and willing to acknowledge other arguments, students demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit, responsibility, communicative attitude, creativity and the ability to plan, coordinate, supervise and advise. Within the other exam category, the following assignments need to be completed: sub assignments with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 100% of the final mark. Note: each feedback contact moment is companioned by a concrete assignment judged by the promotor permanent evaluation.

The aim of the thesis is for the student who begins to specialise in the domain of society, law and religion or domain canon law, to be able to show a full investigation to be carried on an academic level. To demonstrate at his oral defence, that he is able to articulate the problem, the choice of sources used to justify and defend his position taken. He obtain in this way an insight in the methodology ies and structur of scientific research in canon law or the field of society, law and religion. The course started in september 2012 for the first time, based on more than 10 years of experience in teaching lighting design as a master programme in wismar. Students will understand market analysis tools and the strategic management approach. Bdquo design management also includes the vision of design as part of the customer value chain.

An international jury of lighting designers has chosen our study programme to be the winner of this year's pldr education award! the award ceremony took place in front of 600 international guests in copenhagen, being the last evening of the pld c 2013. the course starts in september every year.
